During a medical emergency, seconds matter.
Recently, Limestone County Schools took steps to help ensure a quick response should a cardiac event occur during a sporting event by donating Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to athletic trainers at each high school.
“We want to make sure that we keep all of our student athletes, as well as our spectators safe,” Superintendent Dr. Randy Shearouse said. “We’re thankful to have this opportunity and appreciate our partnership with P4 Physical Therapy .”
Currently each Limestone County school has an AED on campus. However, they’re not with the trainers at all times.
“When you think about the response time of having to get to the school building to get it, we just felt like there was something better that we could do,” Limestone County Schools Athletic Director Rusty Bates said. “We’re very ecstatic that we’re able to give each trainer an AED that they can carry with their bag at all times.”
